Character Education

Cobbles Elementary School is committed to providing students with a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment.  As a school community, we have a responsibility to promote the growth and development of the whole student.  Part of this responsibility is to develop our students' character.  The Cobbles School Character Education Program aligns to the "Patriot Promise" and involves the explicit instruction, recognition, communication and celebration of Penfield's Five Pillars of Character: Responsibility, Caring, Respect, Integrity and Self-Discipline.  A brief description of each pillar is included below:

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Doing what is right and what is expected of me
  • Being accountable for my actions

CARING

  • Show compassion and look for ways to help others
  • Show empathy in our words and actions

RESPECT

  • Treat others the way I want to be treated
  • Realize that each person deserves courtesy, consideration and acceptance

INTEGRITY

  • Do what is right even when no one is watching
  • I understand the importance of truth, honor and sincerity

SELF-DISCIPLINE

  • I make the right choice-even when it is difficult
  • I am in charge of myself and will control my words and actions
