Food Service

Welcome to Penfield Food Services!

Angela Dunson

Our goal is to provide a variety of appetizing, nutritious meals in a pleasant atmosphere that children will enjoy. School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy families!

The district participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program, administered by the United States of Agriculture (USDA). This program provides the nutrition standards that our meals must meet for reimbursement.

  • Each breakfast meal must offer four food items including grains/protein, fruits, and milk. Students must choose at least three of these items and one must be at least a ½ cup of fruit.
  • Each lunch meal must offer meat/meat alternatives, grains, vegetables, fruits, and milk. Students must choose at least three of these components and one must be at least a ½ cup of vegetables and/or fruit.

In addition to offering full meals, we also offer a la carte items such as fresh fruits, vegetables, baked snacks, and ice cream novelties at a separate cost. Students at all school levels are limited to two a la carte snacks per day. Please note that the variety of a la carte items may differ based on school.

The food service department is self-supporting and operates independently from the district. Our income is derived solely from cafeteria sales and the federal and state meal reimbursement. Meals and a la carte items are priced accordingly and can be paid for with cash or the student’s meal account. You can log in through My School Bucks to manage your student's lunch account. To minimize the handling of cash and maximize speed of service through the cafeteria serving lines, we do not provide change. All change will be added to the student's account for future use.

If your child has a food intolerance or allergy, please obtain a note from your physician and send it to the school nurse.

We hope that your students enjoy the meals we serve. If you have any suggestions, concerns, or questions, please feel free to reach out to our office at 585-249-6483.
