Dr. Putnam Named BOCES 2 Superintendent

June 26, 2024

Dear Penfield Families,

It is with mixed emotions that I’m writing to share the following news with you. After 17 fulfilling years working for the Penfield Central School District, ten as your school superintendent, I have made the decision to accept a new position as the district superintendent for Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES.

This decision was not made lightly. My time here has been marked by countless rewarding experiences and collaborative efforts to enhance our educational system and support our students. Together, we have achieved significant milestones, and I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished.

As I embark on this new journey, I am reminded of the words, "never underestimate the power you have to take your life in a new direction." This quote resonates deeply with me as I embrace the exciting opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in my new role. It is a chance to bring the knowledge and experiences I have gained here to a broader community and to make a positive impact on a larger scale.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, guardians, and community members who have been an integral part of our district's success. Your dedication, support, and passion for education have truly been inspiring. While I am excited about the future, I will cherish the memories and relationships that I have built over my years in Penfield.

The Board of Education will be considering next steps in securing a new superintendent prior to my departure at the end of August. Our district is well-positioned for continued growth and success, and I am eager to see what the future holds for our school community.

Thank you for the trust you have placed in me and for the opportunity to serve this remarkable school district. As a member of the Penfield community, I look forward to witnessing the continued achievements of our students and our schools.

With deep appreciation and best wishes,

Thomas K. Putnam, Ed.D.
Superintendent of School
