Class of 2026 Graduates from Penfield

On Wednesday, June 24, the Class of 2026 celebrated their graduation from Penfield High School at the Gordon Field House at the Rochester Institute of Technology, crossing the stage to receive their diplomas as family, friends, teachers, and administrators applauded their accomplishments.
“It is an incredible honor to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Class of 2026,” said Dr. Tasha Potter, Superintendent of Schools, at the ceremony. “Graduates, today is not just the conclusion of your educational journey in Penfield, it is the beginning of something meaningful that only you can define.”
Potter went on to encourage the Class of 2026 to take their next steps boldly and to remember that their voice matters.
“You leave with the responsibility to carry your values and what you have learned into the world with integrity, compassion, empathy, and courage,” she said. “You leave here with a calling to do good. I ask that you do good boldly. The world needs people with character, it needs your bright light, and your enthusiasm.”
Sophia Puccia and Jonas Griffone delivered remarks on behalf of their fellow graduates.
“We are a class full of talent, heart, and a whole lot of unforgettable moments,” said Puccia, as she reflected on the successes and achievements of her classmates during their four years at Penfield. “Those memories will stick with us forever. No matter where life takes us, we will always share this—these years, these memories, and these versions of ourselves that grew up together.”
Griffone shared a word of advice as well; urging his classmates to remember the importance of building community as they walk out into the world.
“Amid our busy schedules and responsibilities our community connections gave us a sense of belonging at Penfield High School,” he said. “Our lives will take us to different places and bring us into contact with new people we would never have expected. But whatever we go, we need to carry with us the understanding that success is never built alone. It is built through the connections we make and the support we offer others.”
Dr. Charlie Roods, Assistant Principal and Class Administrator, reminisced as photos of the class showcased their four years at PHS. He praised their creativity, humor, and enthusiasm, while also crediting Class Advisors Emily Grichen and Michelle Lazio with helping to guide the students throughout their high school careers.
Before the presentation of the class, senior members of the Penfield High School chorale, under the direction of Christine Schwind, performed “Corner of the Sky” from Pippin.
Then, nearly 350 of Penfield’s newest alumni crossed the stage to accept their diplomas, as family and friends cheered and celebrated.
