Championship Weekend: Penfield Sweeps State and Regional Honors
Boys Basketball: A Historic First
The Penfield Boys Basketball team made program history by securing their first-ever New York State Championship. Competing in the Class AA tournament final, the Patriots faced off against a tough Amsterdam squad (Albany/Section II).
Behind a disciplined performance, Penfield pulled away to a 62-54 victory. The win marks the pinnacle of the program's journey, bringing a state title back to the Penfield community for the very first time. It was a hard-fought season that illustrated the power of dedication and true team development.
Rolling Thunder Keeps on Rolling
The success continued for Penfield’s For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics team, Rolling Thunder (Team 1511). At the Finger Lakes Regional, the team secured a strong fourth-place finish and earned the Impact Award, the most prestigious honor in the competition, recognizing the team that best embodies the mission of FIRST.
The team didn't stop there. Moving on to the Greater Pittsburgh Regional, Rolling Thunder placed fifth overall in the rankings and received the Engineering Inspiration Award, which celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team's school and community
