Leadership Structure
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction oversees numerous areas within the Penfield Central School District. The department is divided into three sections:
I. Curriculum
II. Data and Professional Development
III. Special Education
Curriculum
The Curriculum Office is overseen by an Assistant Superintendent. The office works with teacher leaders known as department chairs, facilitators, or elementary subject area specialist, who along with their teaching duties, oversee the curriculum in each area. The curriculum work includes the development and alignment of curriculum, services for federal and state grants, the instructional budget and oversight excluding human resources, and goal creation.
The Assistant Superintendent is a member or leader of numerous District and county curriculum committees. The Curriculum Office also provides the Penfield Board of Education with program evaluations, administrative review, professional development evaluations, program I, BOCES, and program II budget, and oversight of both the Department of Instructional Support, Data, and Testing and the Department of Special Education.

Department of Instruction Support, Data and Testing
The Department of Instructional Support, Data, and Testing is overseen by a Director. The director works with teacher leaders, building principals, and all professional development personnel as well as instructional staff in creating, collating, understanding, and using instructional evidence to improve student achievement. The Director also provides oversight for the student management system, the Academic Intervention System, the State Reporting System, Teleforms, AIS Data base, Regents and local test coordination.
The Director also oversees the work of the Professional Development Coordinator. This coordinator is a teacher on special assignment who creates, monitors, provides, and recommends professional development offerings for our staff. This teacher also serves as the district mentor program leader and as a member of the district professional development team. The department also provides support for Individual Home Instruction Programs (IHIP) that evaluate home school programs. Tutoring services coordination, textbooks approval processes, voluntary and involuntary student transfers, as well as providing support for census, enrollment, and records retention.

Special Education Department
The Department of Special Education is overseen by a Director. The Director works with four special education administrators at all instructional levels across the district. The Special Education Director also oversees the office of preschool special education and works with pupil personnel services (social work, psychology, and counseling) to provide for continuous support for students. The Director is responsible for regulation compliance, CSE process, PPS, federal grant usage, transition planning, student direct services, out of and in district special education services, Medicaid, Child Find, Program Evaluation, Section 504, and records retention. The Director also works as a liaison to our Special Education Parent Teacher Association.
